THE HUSH SOUND

Darren Wilson - Drums/Vocals
Chris Faller - Bass/Vocals
Greta Salpeter - Vocals/Piano
Bob Morris - Vocals/Guitar

The Hush Sound first began when friends Greta Salpeter and Bob Morris started hanging out and playing together when Bob was in high school and Greta was only in the 7th grade. They were definitely an odd couple; Bob comes from a rock background and Greta is a classicaly trained pianist.

It wasn’t until winter of 2004/05 that the band started writing seriously. The Hush (later adding the "sound" because of a rapper that went by the same name) first started out as an acoustic band. But they soon realized they needed more than just a piano and guitar, so they started looking for a drummer and a bass player. That's when they contacted Darren Wilson.

The band went on to play their first show as a trio in a friend’s basement. The next day before watching the tape of the performance, Darren invited Chris to come watch it with the band. Chris was impressed with what he saw and ended up coming out to a practice a few days later. There was immediate chemistry and by the end of February, Chris had joined The Hush Sound and left the other two bands he was in at the time. The lineup was complete.

By the end of March of 2005, The Hush Sound took all the songs they had written into the studio to record their debut full length album. They named it "So Sudden"; a reflection on how quickly things were moving for the band. (as a DIY release with no label support at the time, they sold 300 CDs in two nights)

Only five months after the band started seriously writing and playing shows, they gained the attention of Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. On the day they were streaming "So Sudden" on purevolume, Ryan Ross of Panic at the Disco came across their page and passed it along to Pete Wentz. Pete must have liked what he heard, because he sent them and email saying he was interested in signing them.

So, The Hush Sound were signed to Decaydance. "So Sudden" was re-released, and the band were a part of the Black Clouds and Underdogs tour that featured bands like Fall Out Boy, From First to Last and the All American Rejects. During this time, the band started recording the follow up to "So Sudden", produced by Sean O'Keefe and Patrick Stump (of Fall Out Boy).

"Like Vines" was released on 06.06.06, and the band went on a summer tour with label-mates Panic! at the Disco in support of the album. The following months were spent touring (with Jack's Mannequin, Strayligh Run, Hellogoodbye and their own headlining tour). They are also working on their next album, which will be recorded summer 2007.
